Proof of a time traveler?

 

 

 

 

This photo shows the opening of the Gold Bridge in Canada in 1941. Among the crowd stands a man who is dressed absolutely not accordingly to 1940's fashion. You can spot a zipped hoodie, a T-shirt with a XXI century-style logo, and a portable camera in his hands.

Some people are sure he is a time traveler caught on film.

 

 

The idea that the man in the photograph is a time traveler hinges on three items he is seen wearing or holding that appear to be of too modern a vintage for the 1940s: a logo t-shirt, a small portable camera, and wrap-around sunglasses. But all of those items were readily available in the 1940s.

His t-shirt, for instance, bears the logo of the Montreal Maroons, a temporally appropriate hockey team that played in the NHL from 1924-1938

 

 

 

 

 People have this idea that everyone on the 1940s through the 1950s to early 1960s dressed like a Sears catalog ad. Now it is true that smarter attire was the norm, that doesn't mean casual clothing didn't exist.

 

 

 The final nail in this time traveler’s coffin comes to us courtesy of Kodak. While many viewers assumed that the camera that the man is shown holding is simply too small to have existed in the 1940s, Kodak did in fact make several portable cameras that were available in 1941:

 

 So it appears like the purported time traveling hipster might just wanted to be casual and different from the other people around him; he is not out of fashion or out of that picture. The picture is genuine and is not a proof a time travel.
